Being Peace

The first step to becoming more peaceful is therefore just to begin to notice how much your mind seeks out human drama and how much you actually enjoy conflict and argument. You may say you want peace, but you don’t! You just want pain-free drama. Of course we all want happy dramas – a beautiful girlfriend, a handsome husband – but we do not want true peace. The ego actually finds true peace very boring and ultimately very threatening. Your mind is all-powerful and so while you still desire drama in your life, you will keep manifesting it. You have actually thrown heaven away out of your own desires, so why on earth do you think that you now want it back?

This is one reason why it is so hard for you to awake, because in the totally awakened state of being there is no drama whatsoever.

The next step to finding true peace is to understand that the external world is simply a reflection of what is in your mind. If you hold fearful thoughts in your mind, you will inevitably perceive a fearful world. If you hold attack thoughts in your mind, you will perceive others as attacking you. The world is full of symbols that simply reflect your mind, nothing more, nothing less. The whole physical world is actually a make-believe world based on upside down perception. We see conflicts starting in the world around us, rather than realising that conflict always originate in our own minds.

This is why you have to awake, so that you will no longer give any power to the internal conflicts within your own mind. Once you can hold the light in your mind and dissolve your internal conflicts and self-hatred in that light, then and only then, you can become a light bringer or a peacemaker to the whole world.

After an initial period of awakening, after the spiritual honeymoon in which love just pours through you and you love the whole world, you will need to go through a long, and usually very painful, process of healing, so that you can let go of all your dark attack thoughts and return to love and peace. Until we go through this healing journey, we actually hate rather than love. You find out that your partner has been having an affair and you want kill them and their lover. What sort of love is this?

Because we are all holding onto so much inner pain, we actually hate ourselves, our bodies and all our close friends and loved ones. If you keep saying ‘You did this to me, you caused me all this pain’ you cannot heal or be healed. If you keep saying, ‘I would be at peace, but my physical body is causing me too much pain for my mind to be calm’, you are still seeing everything upside down!

So you have to be very brave and go through a deep healing process in which you take full responsibility for all your inner pain and darkness, guilt and sin before releasing it to the light. The only other way out of this fearful, warring world is through death, and even death does not end the conflict in our own mind.

But the more you bravely face and heal all your inner darkness and pain, the more light, peace and true love will be restored back to you. You will go through cycle after cycle of experiencing the light, and then healing your darkness, until finally your healing journey is nearly complete. Eventually, you will have less and less shadows left to heal, and you will experience more and more light episodes, until peace, love and light become more or less permanent features in your mind.

So, if you want to be a true peace-bringer in this world, you should dedicate your day, every day of your life, to your spiritual awakening and healing. The true spiritual path is always pointing towards the light. This light is always there, but if you are listening to the dark egoic voice within your own mind, you just will not be aware of its presence. You can delay your progress down this path indefinitely, but this is the only way back to permanent peace. Once you commit to this path, absolutely every experience in your life has one true purpose only: to assist you to awake and to heal so that you may return to everlasting peace and love.

You have to be so strong to keep choosing the light and God’s eternal peace instead of the dramas that the ego always craves. But as you keep practising and healing all your inner pain and darkness, the ego’s thought system will begin to fade into the background of your consciousness. You will become more and more aware of the permanent presence of God’s all enveloping peace and love until one day you totally merge back into that eternal peace and become a pure channel for God’s peace to spread out into our troubled world.
