Manifesting Your Soul's Purpose

A lot of people now talk about fulfilling their soul’s purpose, for example by writing a book or becoming a spiritual healer, but far fewer people are really fulfilling their soul’s purpose down here on earth this lifetime.

Some genuine spiritual practitioners think that they can help all their suffering brothers and sisters just by meditating and then shining light out into the world as they sit in a lotus position doing nothing. But sometimes this can be rather self-indulgent. Other spiritually inclined individuals rush out to save the world before they have healed themselves, and just end up making a mess!

I am inspired to be extremely practical and hands on in my attempts to transform the world, and I also encourage all of my advanced students to go out and do something very practical to help humanity. However, I do have to warn you that practical spirituality can feel like very hard work at times, and you will also need miraculous synchronicity if a divine idea is to be fully manifested through you this lifetime.

Knowing Your Soul’s Purpose

If you have not yet learnt to meditate on a more or less daily basis, I can almost guarantee that you are not yet responding to your soul’s calling, because you cannot communicate with your soul while you are constantly distracted by external factors.

If you are now ready to manifest your soul’s purpose this lifetime, you will need to keep sharpening your awareness through meditation and other energy practices until you can connect to your core being. This will take tremendous self-discipline and dedication, because your personality self always has so much resistance to any genuine spiritual awakening.

So before you begin to fulfil your soul’s purpose, and become a true spiritual leader in this world, you first have to become a spiritual apprentice. You have to sharpen your vehicle, which means that you have to strengthen and harmonise your physical and energy bodies, calm your stormy emotions and learn to master your own mind. Then you need to cultivate something rather esoteric that we may call discerning wisdom. You need to be able to look within and intuit the longing of your heart and soul.

Once you can connect to the light, you can begin to receive divine inspiration, but then you have to learn how to interpret these divine messages, because the light does not necessarily communicate in words. You also have to develop your own intuition so that you can sense when something is right and when it is not quite right. To begin with, you may like to use a pendulum, or muscle testing, in order to ascertain whether a particular person or project is for your highest good.

Don’t Rush to Fulfil Your Soul’s Purpose

We all have to go through many years of spiritual training before we can hold a lot of spiritual light down here on earth, so please don’t rush out prematurely to save humankind, or you will simply burn out or make a mess. For example, if you set yourself up as a spiritual teacher, you may attract some followers who will want a piece of you. They will put you on a pedestal for a while, and then they will try and knock you down and attack you for not being the perfect teacher that they wanted. First they will kiss your feet, then later, they will try to pull your feet out from under you.

So my advice is: don’t be too eager to go out and attract followers. Play safe to start with. Tell people ‘I am just a tai chi teacher’. Make sure that you have built up unshakable inner strength and peace before you ‘come out’ as a spiritual teacher or healer, or you will not be able to deal with all the projection that others will throw at you.

A genuine spiritual teacher or healer has established a very strong connection to the light, and then keeps their ego out of the way while the light teaches and heals through them. They have to connect upwards to the light and outwards to their clients, or students, simultaneously. There are many successful worldly presenters and healers, but very few outstanding spiritual teachers and healers.

Preparing to Become a Miracle Worker

In order to express the light effectively, you have to have a very skilled vehicle. For example, if you are going to be an effective spiritual teacher, you need exceptionally good presentational skills. So you need to be brutally honest and assess your own skills level before you launch your career as a spiritual teacher or healer.

You can learn so much from great geniuses such as Beethoven about how to manifest divine beauty out into our world, but you also need to learn how you can manifest truth and beauty through your own unique talents or skills. Please never try to copy anyone else. There could only ever be one Beethoven, one Mozart, and one Deepak Chopra, so please do not try to compete with other spiritual teachers or healers. Your soul’s calling and gifts will always be unique.

If you are really serious about awakening and healing, so that you can become a strong pure vehicle for the light to work miracles in this world, you will eventually be given the wings of an eagle. Your personality-self is about as powerful as a little sparrow, but when you connect to the light, you will develop angelic wings! You will need these mighty wings, because your spiritual task will always be a mighty one.

Your soul’s purpose is not fun for your personality-self. Your soul’s purpose has nothing to do with your personality’s goals and dreams. It is a mighty task, and you will have to be turned inside out to do it, or your inner darkness will continue to distort the natural extension of the light. You are preparing yourself for miracles to extend through you, but to reach this very advanced level of awakening, you will have to see the whole world as nothing. You will have to know without a shadow of a doubt that this world has absolutely no power over you.

Transcending the Egoic Thought System

When you are manifesting any kind of project down here on earth, please remember that it needs to have divine grace in it so that it will uplift the human spirit. This is why we talk about ‘light working’ and ‘light workers’. The more you practise connecting to the light, the more the light that you embody will become real and alive, with its own intelligence and substance to it. But some so-called light workers can be awful healers or teachers, because there is no divine grace in what they do. They are basically still operating from their egoic thought system, and their ‘me’ based projects therefore have no real light or spiritual authenticity in them.

Your egoic thought system will keep asking ‘What about me?’ ‘What is in this project for me? Why do I have to serve these idiots?’ If you start to think like this as you fulfil your soul’s purpose, resentment will set in and you will sabotage the extension of the light. So you have to learn to ignore this loud egoic voice that will be extremely persistent and attack everything you do.

If you believe that a divinely inspired project is ‘your’ idea, your ego will claim the light’s creation as its own creation and distort it. I used to think that I created Infinite Tai Chi, but now I know that this beautiful movement is not ‘mine’. I know it is a manifestation of the light in action. I have taken my egoic self completely out of the equation. I was just the male midwife for a divine child to be born into this world.

The egoic thought system can be very tricky. It can claim an idea as its idea when it is actually a divine idea. Alternatively, it can convince you that its own self-centred plan is really a divine plan. So you have to keep being very mindful and honest to ensure that the ego does not sabotage your soul’s true purpose. Never allow your egoic pride or your egoic doubts and fears to sabotage the manifestation of a divine idea through you.

Waiting for Divine Timing

At first, you may feel very frustrated because you will not know exactly what you are supposed to do to fulfil your soul’s purpose. Unfortunately, no one else can give you the information that you need. You just have to wait patiently, until you gain some inkling about your true purpose this lifetime and then you have to nurture your inspiration until the time is perfect for you to act.

Divine timing is not your timing. Sometimes you may have to wait many years before all the pieces are in place for a particular divine project to begin. So many events have to happen, and so many souls have to meet for just one project to come to fruition. Sometimes, you may have to nurture your project like a baby for several years before it can run by itself. You have to nurture it with your own radiant energy and enthusiasm until it gains momentum and starts to snowball. This divine baby is not yours, but you can nurture it and help it to grow strong, just as a parent helps their baby to grow into a strong and healthy child.

Sometimes you also have to keep looking and looking for the right person to turn up in your life before you can carry the divine project forwards together. If more than one person is needed for a divine idea to manifest in this world, both parties just have to wait for their partners to turn up and join forces with them. Your personality self can never plan this. You just have to wait until ‘the one’ finally turns up and you can join with them heart to heart and soul to soul to manifest your joint purpose.

Think of the birth of A Course in Miracles into this world. First, Helen Schuman had to meet William Thetford so that Helen could write down the course and William could encourage her to keep going. Then Kenneth Wapnick had to edit the manuscript. Years later, Marianne Williamson had to write the best-seller Return to Love so that the Course could reach out to far more people. All this was like a divine relay race, with awakened souls passing on the baton after each one had played their unique part in manifesting this divine teaching.
Nurturing a Divine Idea until it Takes Shape in This World

A divine idea is formless, because truth itself is formless. But then this divine idea comes down through your heart and mind and start to take a specific form. Once a divine idea begins to take some more concrete shape, you need to nurture it and let it grow before it is born into the world. You wait for divine inspiration and then you act, like Beethoven who waited to hear immortal music before he began to write down any musical notes.

It is not at all easy to filter divine inspiration down into the lower realms of existence such as planet earth. Can you do this yet? First you will respond to a vague inner urge and then this urge will become stronger. Once you have some idea about your soul’s purpose and how you are supposed to manifest it you will then need to nurture it through a gestation period.
 
For example, Peggy-Jane and I both had the thought form ‘We need to write a spiritual book together’ and so the manifestation process for The Radiant Warrior began. This thought form then had to build as we focussed our energy and awareness on it. Loads of people say that they are going to write a book, but far fewer actually sit down and start writing!

If the process of manifestation ever seems to be going very slowly or even appears to be stuck, you need to ask yourself whether your doubts and fears may be interfering with the process. You need to put a lot of enthusiasm and faith into your projects. You can protect your dreams by putting a lot of love and positive sunshine energy into them The last thing they need is a bucket of cold water poured all over them. So don’t tell any cynical friends your dreams or they will immediately tell you all the reasons why you will never manifest them. A lot of people you know, consciously or unconsciously, do not want you to be an outstanding success.

Some of you impatiently try to run before you can walk, while others of you sabotage your dreams through self-centredness, unworthiness, or egoic power struggles with your colleagues. All this has to be healed before you can manifest miraculously in this world. Don’t worry too much about tomorrow. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other today. Concentrate on connecting to the light, healing yourself and nurturing your heart’s desire today, and tomorrow will unfold in its own divine time.

 We need to support each other unconditionally as we learn how to manifest spirit in this physical world. When we join forces with other light workers to fulfil our souls’ purpose, we can create miraculously together out of thin air. You combine your unique talents and light with another awakening soul’s unique gifts and energy and something supremely beautiful and uplifting has to be created. But joint light projects cannot come from our egoic selves. They have to come from our core beings joining together in pure love and light, heart to heart and soul to soul.

Manifesting divine ideas like this will uplift humankind tremendously. I am determined to spend the rest of my life working with like minded, awake individuals to uplift the human spirit. I am no longer seeking physical comfort or physical pleasures. What for? Seeking egoic satisfaction like this is basically so boring and meaningless. How many human beings have all the skills, qualities and awakened awareness to manifest divine ideas down here on earth? Virtually nobody as yet, but I know that some of you are now ready to do it. You will need backbone, lots of courage and persistence, a very strong, clear quiet mind, a healthy, radiant physical body and a loving, compassionate heart. Is this asking a lot? Yes, you are being asked to give everything to the light. But I know that with God’s infinite grace and unwavering support, you can do it!
